short film research: Relationship
Common Camera angles and movement: Frequent use of Two-Shots, in which both actors are in the frame, in order to highlight their chemistry.
Common Sound: Upbeat, acoustic indie-pop music and fast, overlapping dialogue (banter).
Common Mise-en-Scene: Bright colors and "real-world" settings like coffee shops and shared apartments.
Common Editing: Quick, rhythmic cutting, especially during arguments and "meet-cute" scenes.
Example films of my genre: 500 Days of Summer, Annie Hall.
What elements of the genre do I like? I like the romance in the film because of the humor, which grounds the romance and shows that people actually behave like that in real life.
What elements of the genre do not appeal to me? I don’t like the "clumsy" scenes, which are often choreographed and can seem cliché.
