Emergency Plan
As a result of the unfortunate circumstances of our beach filming day, we got together as a group and created several backup plans to reduce the risk of this happening in the future. We specifically looked for nearby indoor places in case of inclement weather and checked parts of our script that had interior scenes, like the bedroom scene to use as immediate alternatives if bad weather occurred. In order to streamline our decision-making, we decided to set wind and rain conditions for a no-go. In addition, we agreed to use a 24-hour process to confirm whether the shoot would go ahead before anyone travels. Technically, we have put together a "save-all" kit with towels and waterproof gear covers for our equipment in case of unexpected weather or any other unpredictable event. As well, if we use an area with a lot of noise, we have made a plan for audio 'contingencies' by recording clean tracks in a different location (like in a car) without noise. We also recognized that morale and logistics are critical to the success of our team; therefore, food and proper preparation for schedule changes are both important pieces of our planning process. By providing both a solid Plan B for production and catering, we can save a potentially disastrous situation from happening, and continue with a good and productive day.
