Production Blog: Music Production

When it comes to creating the right tone or mood in movies, music is crucial. It was challenging to locate the appropriate music for our group's last assignment. We all decided that we wanted something that would work well with the scenes I shot and evoke the appropriate feelings. We experimented with a variety of genres, including horror music and classical instruments. One of the other members initially assisted me in identifying our first option. A classical song from Apple Music was our first selection. After that, I discovered that selecting a royalty-free song was much simpler than using a copyrighted song. Later, since piano seemed to work better for our movie, I was looking for songs with a thriller theme that was just piano. I visited every platform that distributes music. YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes. Other than SoundCloud and YouTube, I was unable to locate any non-copyright music. I looked through SoundCloud but was unable to find anything that fit the Final Task, so I went to YouTube. At this point, I discovered Darren Curtis Music's royalty-free song "Dark Piano Music Royalty Free Halloween 'Freedom in Isolation'."
The song's emotional depth complemented the narrative the group was attempting to tell. As I listened to the song several times, I thought about how it might improve the scenes. The transitions were more seamless because the pacing complemented our editing style. Our story naturally reached its climax as a result of the song's buildup. We verified it and then used our video to test it. The outcome was precisely what it had anticipated. The dystopian genre and the emotional impact of our film were enhanced by this music. We learned from this experience how important sound is to filmmaking. Choosing the correct track was a difficult but worthwhile process.
