 Genre Research: Maze Runner

The Maze Runner has dystopian elements such as a controlled environment where they all stay, Glade, a false sense of safety, and a larger manipulative system. It explores rebellion and survival as the characters unravel the ugly truth about their society.

Some elements of the movie I did like were the intensity and suspense of survival. The Glade with its hidden dangers and monsters and the struggle to escape, kept the tension high and the plot engaging. I enjoyed the theme of rebellion as the characters start to slowly uncover the truth about their situation and fight back against the system they live in.

Some conventions of The Maze Runner I did not like was that the froducers and directors did not go in-depth about what was on the other side of the maze. The focus was heavily on the survival of the characters and escape leaving the outside world unexplored and unexplained

For this film, my group and I used my own camera. So, I had to transfer the videos to my phone and edit the movie. This was a lengthy process but I did a good job. I got all the clips, good and bad, and watched all of them. I got the best clips and left the bloopers and unnatural clips behind. Once I got all the clips and cut some of them for smoother transitions from each scene. I then made sure the lighting was perfect. In some of the clips I did have to edit the coloring to make it appear a little brighter but also still keep that weary effect by making it have a little shadow-like effect.  With that, I moved on to the sounds. For the scene where I am in bed in silence, I wanted to have a glass-breaking sound. So, what I did was when my group went to break the glass for the next scene I recorded the sound on my phone. I then layered that sound onto the film and it came out just as I imagined.

Film Websites and Postcards

  When researching film websites and postcards, I found a website and a postcard for the movie Love, Rosie. The website is pretty simple. It includes the postcard with all the information about the movie, including: Genre: Comedy, Romance; Director: Christian Ditter;  and  Producers:  Robert Kulzer and Simon Brooks. It also included a short description of the movie and a trailer. I liked the addition of the description of the movie, so those who haven't watched it can read it and get intrigued to watch it. Although I think the website itself should've included more information.  The postcard for Love, Rosie included the main actors in an embrace, the title design up front, the actors' names, and a short sentence on the movie topic. I especially liked the short, singular sentence because it can attract people to the movie by making them wonder what it could mean. There wasn't anything I didn't particularly enjoy.
